AuDHD diagnosis in adults

ADHD, the autism spectrum and their co-occurrence – differential diagnosis of three clinical pictures, tool selection and the interview.

  • 8 hours · online
  • ADHD / ASD differentiation
  • case session

AuDHD – the co-occurrence of ADHD and the autism spectrum – is one of the most frequently missed diagnoses in psychological and psychiatric practice. It is not a simple sum of ADHD and ASD but a distinct, emergent clinical phenotype – the social masking characteristic of the spectrum interweaves with the impulsivity of ADHD, producing a picture mistaken for personality disorders, social anxiety or treatment-resistant depression. This eight-hour training teaches you to think about these three pictures differentially.

Who this training is for

  • Psychologists and psychotherapists who see adults asking about ADHD, the autism spectrum, or both at once.
  • People training in psychotherapy and psychological support.
  • Clinicians running ADHD diagnosis who want to recognise co-occurring spectrum traits (AuDHD) and know when to refer for an extended assessment.

Programme

Theory interweaves with tools and case work – eight hours of content in total. The blocks connect and complement each other, so the order may change; the programme is indicative. The full, current programme is on the organiser's site.

  1. 01

    Neurobiological and clinical foundations

Frequently asked questions

Does this training qualify me to use ADOS-2 or ADI-R?

No. It is not a course in administering standardised autism-diagnosis tools (ADOS-2, ADI-R) – that requires separate, certified courses. It does teach how to recognise the clinical signs of a co-occurring spectrum in a person with ADHD, when and why to refer for an extended assessment, and how to run a differentiating interview with the available screening tools.

Who is this training for?

Psychologists, psychotherapists and people training in psychotherapy or psychological support.

What format is it and how long?

Online, 8 hours of content. Afterwards participants get 30-day access to recordings plus materials – slides and differential-diagnostic tables.

Is the order of the programme fixed?

The blocks connect and complement each other, so they may be covered in a different order – the programme is indicative and may change at the trainer's discretion, in response to participants' needs.
